Get Some R&R: Radiesse Vs. Restylane

When you hear us talk about R&R at our office we aren’t talking about rest and relaxation (although, you need that too), we are talking about the two dermal fillers: Restylane and /Radiesse. Although both of these fillers are used to treat fine lines and wrinkles across the face, there are some subtle differences. But what?

Radiesse

Radiesse is unique because it’s a synthetic filler. Like other dermal fillers, Radiesse is great at treating fine lines across the lower part of the face. Specifically, smile lines, marionette lines, chin wrinkles, corners of the mouth, and pre-jowl folds, buy Radiesse is especially unique because it’s the only dermal filler that can be used on the hands.

As we age, our skin starts to lose all of the collagen in it that made it supple when we were younger. One of the first places that people tend to lose fat and collagen is in the hands which can make them look really thin and veiny. But, we inject Radiesse into them, it will help smooth them out and add more volume to your hands so that they look more youthful.

Restylane

Restylane is a hyaluronic acid based filler that works by binding with water molecules to help add volume to the skin. Restylane is ideal because it can be used to treat creases in the skin while also adding volume to it. For instance, we can use Restylane not only to get rid of smile lines around the mouth, but we can also use it to add volume to your cheeks. This versatility is one of the things that draws a lot of patients towards Restylane because we can do so much with it.

Depending on what results you are hoping to get, we will discuss both the pros and cons of each of these fillers. To learn some more, contact our Holyoke office at 413) 536-0006.
