“I have been very pleased with my LASIK eye surgery and the entire process at the Eye & LASIK Center. From the beginning everyone from the receptionists, to the coordinator and to Dr. Alfred and Dr. Walkowiak, have been pleasant, helpful, and supportive. The coordinator was very informative prior to the surgery and her first hand details, having had it herself, was very reassuring. The procedure itself was actually quite quick and painless, just as they say it will be. Dr. Walkowiak has been great through all the follow-up visit.”
“I was very pleased with my results and highly recommend LASIK”.
“My experience with the Eye & LASIK Center was (and still is) one of the best professional experiences I have ever had. I needed LASIK as a result of a new state law. They were very honest with me and addressed all my questions and concerns. Dr. Alfred was professional with a personal touch. His expertise was mirrored by his bedside manner. Coming from a medical family and being a part of the medical community, I know this to be of utmost importance. I chose Eye & LASIK Center for their honesty, simple explanations, and willingness to help me”.
“With LASIK I can see where my drive lands and sink my putts!”
“I’m very happy with my laser vision correction. I’ve worn contacts since I was 17, first extended wear, then daily lenses. Since LASIK, I feel like I have gained time in my daily routine. I don’t worry about swimming or standing outside on a windy day hoping my contacts don’t get dry or fall out. Now I just get up and go. It’s really a great feeling.”
I am so glad I had LASIK! Now I can look at the world with new vision. It was affordable and took no time at all.”
“When I had glasses, they were a constant burden. I couldn’t rest my head on my husband’s shoulders, give my kids a hug, walk outside in the rain or cold weather, go swimming etc. without them getting in the way. I was sick of dealing with my glasses, so I made the decision to get rid of them and go through with LASIK. I researched my options and chose the Eye & LASIK Center because it was the only place I trusted with my eyes.”
“Having LASIK was one of the best decisions I’ve ever made. The freedom is wonderful. I have worn either glasses or hard contacts for 50 years, so not having to use them is great. Just to get up in the morning and see without the aid of glasses or contacts is beyond words. The staff at the Eye & LASIK Center are wonderful, courteous and very caring. The whole experience was the best!”
“All the helpful staff at Eye & LASIK Center made my laser surgery a great one. My husband had his surgery seven years ago and has always told me I should have it done. I have got to say, I was a little afraid of the”surgery” aspect of it and put it off. Now that I’ve had the correction done, I ask myself why I waited so long. Now I would recommend it to anyone who needs it. Thank you to all of you that made this personal experience one to remember! An eye for detail.”
“Having LASIK gave me such clarity in my vision, I feel like I can see for miles. Now I can enjoy the outdoors without the hassle of glasses or contacts. I am still amazed at how great I can see.”
“Like most, I was very anxious about having LASIK. I had heard great things about the procedure and outcomes, and more importantly I had heard great things about the Eye & LASIK Center. Because of this, I set my nerves aside and went ahead with it. It has improved every aspect of my daily activities.”
“LASIK changed my life both at work and play!”
“Crystal clear and on top of the world!”
“I read tons of testimonials myself, and found that everyone described what I would experience right on the mark. This was by far the best thing I’ve ever done. So glad I did it!”
“I was extremely satisfied with the LASIK treatment I received. The staff and physician, Dr. Alfred, were extremely professional, comforting, courteous, patient and helpful. They not only answered all my questions, they made sure I understood everything before going ahead with the procedure, as well as, during it. I would recommend the Eye & LASIK Center to anyone considering laser vision correction.”
“My experience with LASIK treatment was great! I am a very active person who loves getting out there and doing sports and working out. It is so much better I don’t have to worry about things getting in my eyes or waking up and putting contacts in or wearing glasses!! Such a hassle and expensive!! I highly recommend LASIK treatment!! Great for my active lifestyle.”-
“After seeing the doctors at the Eye and LASIK Center and finding out how serious my condition was, the Doctors and staff explained my options and totally answered all my questions, putting me at ease enough to make a good decision. I enjoy the freedom of not wearing glasses. It has helped my self-esteem. I would recommend if it’s an option for someone considering surgery-DO IT! I look back and wonder why I waited so long to have corrective surgery.”
What is LASIK eye surgery?
If you’re tired of the hassle of glasses and contacts, LASIK surgery may be your solution. You don’t have to endure the hassles of foggy glasses, gritty contacts, and red, irritated eyes for the rest of your life. Get LASIK and make it all a thing of the past.
What types of laser vision correction treatments to you offer?
Laser-Assisted In-Situ Keratomileusis, otherwise known as LASIK, is by far the most common method for permanent vision correction. It is a procedure which involves creating a flap and using an excimer laser to reshape the cornea to correct for your visual errors.
LASIK has become the procedure of choice for most people due to quicker recovery time and minimal discomfort following the procedure. Most people are 20/20 and can go about their normal activities the very next day.
Advanced Surface Ablation (ASA) is a procedure that involves treating the surface of the cornea rather than treating underneath a flap. The same excimer laser is used to reshape the cornea to correct for your visual errors. Once the procedure is complete the epithelial cells begin regenerating immediately and are completely healed within 3-5 days.
This is a great alternative for those who have irregularities in the surface of their corneas or have corneas that are too thin for LASIK. Vision recovers more gradually after ASA and most people can resume their normal activities after 5-7 days.
Who is the ideal candidate for LASIK vision correction?
If you’re over the age of 18 and suffer from nearsightedness, farsightedness, or astigmatism, you’re tired of wearing glasses or contacts, and your prescription has not changed for more than a year, you may be a great candidate for laser vision correction.
How can I prepare for treatment?
Wear Your Glasses. Bring your most current pair of glasses with you. Should you wear contact lenses to your appointment, please bring your contact lens case, as you will be asked to remove them.
1-Hour Visit. Plan on being at our office for approximately two hours.
Bring Your Calendar. You may find it helpful to bring your appointment calendar with you for convenient scheduling.
How is LASIK surgery performed?
During LASIK, an excimer laser gently reshapes the front surface of your eye (the cornea), to correct your nearsightedness, farsightedness or astigmatism. This reshaping of the cornea improves the way light is focused or “refracted” by the eye. Most people achieve 20/20 vision or better with LASIK surgery, and are able to resume normal activities such as driving, working and exercising the very next day.
How long does LASIK take?
On surgery day, you’ll be in our office for approximately 2 hours, and the surgery itself takes just a few minutes. Shortly after you arrive, we’ll give you numbing drops in your eyes (there are no needles involved), and we can offer you something to help you relax. You’ll need someone to drive you home after surgery, but can resume your regular activities as soon as the next day.
Can I wear contacts after LASIK surgery?
Yes, you can wear contacts after LASIK surgery, but it is very unlikely you would need to. Our laser system, the WaveLight® EX500, is the fastest and most accurate LASIK laser system on the market, and is designed and proven to deliver vision better than what you can achieve with contact lenses or glasses. For some patients, correction is occasionally needed for certain part-time or specialty activities. Glasses are usually chosen in these occasions.
Are there any risks?
No surgical procedure is without risks. Long term sight threatening complications from LVC are very uncommon – less than 1%. Our doctors will review the potential risks and benefits in great detail during your consultation so you can make an informed decision before undergoing LVC.
At the Eye & Lasik Center, we track our own data and provide personalized outcomes based on our experience with people just like you. Whatever your level of myopia, hyperopia, or astigmatism, we’ll provide you with specific information about your likelihood of achieving 20/20 vision or better following your LASIK eye surgery. No guessing. No generalities. Just the actual data to help you make an informed decision.
Laser vision correction results in a permanent change to the shape of the cornea and the way the eye focuses light. However, LVC will not prevent age-related conditions such as presbyopia (the need for reading glasses) or cataracts. These conditions would still be treated in their normal manner.
