IOL (intraocular lens) Master

Before cataract surgery can be performed, it is necessary to determine the poser of the intraocular lens (IOL) that will be used to replace the cataract.

The IOL Master is the first non-contact (nothing touches the eye itself) optical device that allows for fast, accurate measurements of eye length and surface curvature, necessary for cataract surgery.

The most important pre-operative measurement is the axial length of the eye, the distance between the cornea and the retina.  Using the precision of a laser beam and employing the innovative technology, the IOL Master is consistently accurate within +/- 0.02mm or better.  The axial length value is placed in a formula to generate the correct power of the lens.
